    Education Qualifications: Master's degree in related field required. Specialist or doctorate degree in related field preferred.

    Experience Qualifications: Five years of successful teaching experience with two years in an instructional leadership or school-wide administrative role required. Experience as a system-level instructional or assessment coordinator and experience in high, middle, and elementary school levels preferred.

    Skills Qualifications: Ability to work as a member of a high-functioning team, in collaboration with other departments and the local schools, in the implementation of the district?s mission, vision, and goals; ability to coordinate, supervise, manage and support the district?s K-12 balanced assessment system; ability to interpret, evaluate, and articulate assessment data to various stakeholders; ability to provide high quality professional learning to various stakeholders in the areas of assessment administration, interpretation of data, as it impacts student achievement, and school accountability results; ability to provide concise and accurate written and verbal communication; ability to evaluate system-wide and local school programs to determine success of a plan as related to assessment; possess knowledge of testing administration; possess strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and technology skills in the Microsoft Office Suite, other databases that support assessment, and assessment platforms.

    Primary Responsibilities: As part of Gwinnett County Public Schools? balanced assessment system, the Coordinator of Assessment is responsible for supporting local schools in the administration of national, state, and local standardized assessments, as well as supporting schools in the area of state accountability.

    1.        Support the Executive Director and Directors by collaborating with curriculum and instruction program leaders to provide integration and articulation of curriculum, instruction, and assessment for K-12.
    a.        Support the Directors in working with contractors (i.e. braille, printing, item vendors, etc.), curriculum and assessment program leaders, other system personnel, parents, community members, and other stakeholders to develop, review, pilot, field test, administer, and report results of all Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS)-based assessments.
    b.        Interpret the system’s mission, vision, and goals as well as the division’s objectives and programs to various internal and external audiences.

    2.        Coordinate the development process for the district’s assessment program.
    a.        Coordinate and collaborate with Curriculum and Instruction Directors, program specialists, and other district stakeholders on the development of new district assessments and initiatives including identification of measurement targets and blueprint development.
    b.        Develop and provide professional learning on assessment development and literacy for teacher teams to develop new district assessments.
    c.        Coordinate teacher team meetings, provide resources, conduct item and form reviews by various stakeholders, coordinate interaction studies, oversee pilots and field test events, and facilitate an ongoing revision process for all new development.
    d.        Develop and implement a continuous improvement process for the revision of all system-wide assessments to inform and improve instructional practice.
    e.        Plan, oversee, and conduct scoring sessions for assessments in the district program.
    f.         Use psychometric data to ensure the continuous improvement of all district assessments and lead teachers through the data review and feedback cycle.       

    3.        Document the development, training, quality control, analysis, and implementation processes of the assessment program.
    a.        Format all assessments in accordance with Universal Design principles.
    b.        Create blueprints, including assessed standards, Depth of Knowledge (DOK) and item key, to share with teachers and local school personnel.
    c.        Participate and ensure all assessments cycle through appropriate quality control reviews.
    d.        Support the implementation process of district assessments in local schools.

    4.        Develop and implement ongoing professional learning on assessment literacy based on current research.
    a.        Provide training for teachers on learning targets/deconstructing the standards, cognitive complexity and DOK, item writing and universal design, bias and sensitivity, identification of Lexile levels, rubric development, constructed and extended response items, and the data protocols.
    b.        Support schools in their ongoing development of common assessments, conducting of data reviews, and using the assessment platform to increase their knowledge of best practices in assessment development and to build capacity at the local school level.
    c.        Conduct assessment audits on school level common assessment to provide administration and teachers with baseline data in reference to the structure of their assessments, including alignment to the AKS, DOK level distribution, formatting, and rubric development.
    d.       Keep current on the research related to best practices and trends in assessment systems, programs, and development.

    5.      Perform other duties as assigned.

    Physical Demands:
